OUR FOUNDER

Siddeeqa Institute was founded in the year 2013 by Ustadha Myra Hamid, who continues to serve as the institute’s Principal. Ustadha Myra acquired her Dars-e-Nizami based alimiyyah degree from Wifaq al-Madaris al-Arabiyyah Pakistan. She went on to undertake a rigorous two-year Ifta Specialization (Mufti) Program at Whitethread Institute UK, during which she answered over 1000 questions on a variety of topics in the context of contemporary demands and sensitivities. The program comprised in-depth study of usūl al-fiqh (legal theory), qawā’id al-fiqh (legal maxims), usūl al-iftā (principles of formulating legal responses) and classical legal texts including Bada’i al-Sana’i, Radd al-Muhtār, Fath al-Qadīr, Fatāwa Hindiyah, al-Bahr al-Rāiq. The topic of her thesis was “Shari’ah Considerations in Online Business- A Step by Step Analysis.” Ustadha Myra was directed by her teachers to begin teaching while she was still a student and has been teaching for the last 15 years. She writes fatwas for an online fatwa center, runs multiple WhatsApp groups to answer women’s everyday fiqhi questions, and has researched extensively into Islamic family law.
Ustadha Myra is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) credentialed Life Coach with particular expertise in Youth Coaching and Relationship Coaching. She is also a certified Mentor and Support Group Facilitator, and an experienced Trainer. Her commitment to enabling women to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives led her to establish the Women’s Wellness Center at Siddeeqa Institute, under the auspices of which she promotes women’s holistic wellness as a necessary condition for spiritual health and progress.
Ustadha Myra has a Bachelor’s degree in World Politics from Hamilton College, New York and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland, USA. She also runs multiple successful business ventures and non-profit platforms. She is married with three children. She has lived in the USA, Malaysia, Morocco, the GCC and Pakistan.
